Okay, I just have to say...

I just came up with a new, nifty idea for the blog. If you look to the right I just added a new page titled "Events of the Month".  I went to http://www.holidayinsights.com/ and I found there events/holidays/and special occasions that some I NEVER heard of!  So I figure looking at some of these events and whatnot we could incorporate some of these events into fun blog posts/future ideas/projects/ you name it!  There will be a post for each event listed.  So we going to give this a try and we'll see how it goes! ;-)

In other news, I just want to say that I'm thinking "Burlap".  I don't if it's because I sit there and fond of my "No-Sew Burlap Curtain" every time I walk into my bath, which also I finished some more decor, with more burlap..... and really we don't have a major holiday in April, but I'm thinking we're going to dedicate our April "Pin of the Weeks" to Burlap.  Burlap, is a penny-saver.  That's our ultimate goal, DIY-for cheaper than what the stores charge and coming up with new creation.  And so, I'll be loading the rest of the bathroom-burlap project(s) in April in dedication to our April Burlap theme, and hoping to feature a guest project(s) from my friend's blog at: http://cutcraftcreate.blogspot.com/, if you want to get a head start, go check her out.  She too is a big fan of burlap, and really probably gave me the push to fall in love with it as well. (I was never really a burlap fan, until recently). So I'll be preparing soon an April Fool's Day prank list (not so crafty, but we have fun here too!) and the other events for the first week of April and I'll be looking out for some awesome Pins on Burlap to share for the next month.  I hope you all are as excited as I am and ready to get your craft on! ;-)

A Tu-Tu-rrific Birthday

This year my daughter was turning 3, and last summer I had gotten Disney Princess Dresses for a local garage sale group on Facebook.  And they just wouldn't hold up and they're expensive and cheap looking (sorry Disney).  My daughter LOVES to dress up, and I thought to myself, why can't I make my own princess dresses?  And not to be "too full of myself", I thought "I could do it and do it better!"
I hate sewing always have, but now I find it kind of relaxing... I have became my mother (lol).....
So I thought Tu-Tu's and I'll just design my own tops because I couldn't find a pattern I liked.  (FYI, I know how to sew, but NEVER designed clothes or done anything like this).  So this is how I done a "Tu-tu-rrific Birthday"
I had seen many ways people have made tutu's but I figured the easiest way would be to tie the tulle around the elastic waist band.  So I found on Pinterest a blog that gave a tutorial so I knew that I had the general idea right, funny this gal is from Indiana too.  You can check out her blog and tutu's here: http://simplyinspireddesigns.blogspot.com/2010/12/diy-tutu.html
*I cut mine into 4 in. wide pieces and 26-28 in. long. and tied them around the waist band.  When finished I went and hung the tutu's on one of my kitchen chairs and would cut the ends to make sure they were all an even length.  I wanted mine long and full for growing room.

Here is one half finished without trim and to see how well it fit my daughter. (Rapunzel outfit).
Then here's one of my finished products. (Aariel, the Little Mermaid). -front
-and back.
Okay I added rings, and thin ribbon to tie the tutu tighter, because I made them a little big for again, growing room.  Then I sewn a sash to wrap and tie to hide the small bulk of that tie.
I apologize I do not really have a tutorial for the tops because I literally randomly designed these things as I went and I was stressed on time.

Also a friend of mine, Miss Kelsie Ann at http://cutcraftcreate.blogspot.com/ has some awesome sewing projects, and has been participating in blog hops related to other sewing projects, which is why I making sure I get this shared and out there to all those who do love to sew because of a recent event.  Check out her site, and she has posts that'll guide you to those other blogs with such amazing projects so you too can get your craft on! : )

Patio/Garden

Pin of the Week Mar 24- Mar 31

Marbled "Bling-Bling Eggs"!
This is so neat and pretty, who'd have thought?!  To get the full tutorial check out this blog at:
http://www.sheknows.com/holidays-and-seasons/articles/985729/perfect-easter-eggs

Pin of the Week Mar 17- Mar 24

Who doesn't like glitter? ...besides the mess it can cause...lol  But seriously glitter eggs! or I think to call them "bling-bling eggs" :-P  Brought to you my Ms. Martha Stewart herself.  Check it out at: http://www.marthastewart.com/917089/glittered-eggs#slide_2 and get your "bling-bling eggs" on!

Pin of the Week Mar 10- Mar 17

I think this one is just cute and beautiful, and something you could put on the wall too rather than the door.  It's actually another one that doesn't have a tutorial but can be found being sold on etsy.com.  However I can walk you through this one.  Just go to your local craft supply store and in the floral department is where you'll  find your wreathes and garland, floral wire, and decorative ribbon. And you would just mold these items into the shown shapes, I would attach them together with floral wire since you are working with floral. when cutting any floral items always you the bottom sharp cutter of needle nose pliers before you ruin your scissors. Once you have your floral items mended together you wrap your ribbon around depending on how it sits you may want to use a cool glue gun to keep it tacked in place OR simply make a bow and tack it into place. And simply weave a thinner ribbon if you wish through the ears about 2-3 inches above the head to be used to hang your bunny wreath.  That simple.
To see more photos and similar made wreathes by the creator of this project you can go to:

Pin of the Week Mar 3 - Mar 10

It's March an in light of Easter landing on the 31st, I have found a few REAL cute Easter projects so through out the month of March, Pin of the Week will be "Bringing on EASTER!" : )
Starting with this project:
Our problem here is when I went to get the source of this project I got:

Blog has been removed

Sorry, the blog at jessfalc.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.
SO................
I know, I know, there's no tutorial, but it's SO pretty and cute, that just means we'll have to come up with our own creative ways of re-creating this project.

Pin of the Week Feb 24 - Mar 3

Who's ready for Spring??!?!! Seriously, let's hustle and get here!  We just had a winter storm! Come on, but I'm sure after this snow melts we'll get our glimpse... Anyways, I find this budget-worthy and nifty, and thinking about doing one of these with a it looking attached to stairs on the other side of our deck.
Now this blog is neat and shows 4 other things you can do with cinder blocks at: http://www.handmadeology.com/rrthinking-concrete-5-cinder-block-diy-projects/
and it looks like I'm going to have to make a new tab or label or patio and garden here soon, because I have many project ideas for this summer.

Pin of the Week Feb 17- Feb 24

This site this project is from has SEVERAL DIY ideas/projects, as we all know area rugs can be expensive, but are nice to have and adds to your room decor! Also I will be adding this site to my "Sites to Check Out" because of it's awesome creativity and variety,
If you look for HUGE braided or weaved rugs they seem to be quite more expensive then others that are just framed carpet.  You can find this project at: http://craftgawker.com/?s=braided+rug, craftgawker.com just shows you tons of others projects and this actually came from http://blogalacart.com/2011/08/souled-objects/ , but craftgawker has the mass variety that you should check out, and then you can click on photo of  a project and it'll take you to it's original source.

Pin of the Week Feb 10- Feb 17

I've been wanting a new bed, and trying to find one that fits in a way that I want has been difficult.  I want storage and the canopy w/ the sheer curtains.  But its seeming like you just can't have both, but this gave me the idea of storage could be possible, and somehow once I get the creative juices flowing I can come up with a canopy.  But I really don't think I'll think further unless I had the materials, because I have to "see" it, and that would be the best way for me to.  This is also an awesome "green/recycling" project and cheap!  Especially if you compare buying an actual bed.
This project was actually just uploaded by a user on Pinterest and so I can't offer a tutorial or source.

Pin of the Week Feb 3- Feb 10

I found this to just be neat, and simple!  This can be found at: http://www.annieink.com/2011/07/tree-quadrants.html  with a tutorial so you make one of your own!

Pin of the Week Jan 27 - Feb 3

This is a cute idea for the kiddos especially when their artwork starts to pile up!
This was actually found on etsy.com but you should see the stuff this lady has made and sold.  If you're crafty like me, you can find your own way to customize and do one yourself,  and if you're not I wouldn't mind helping walking anyone through the idea of one and hopefully I'll be making one eventually so you folks can have a tutorial! : ) But you can go here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/66972963/personalized-wooden-art-hanger-large?ref=cat1_gallery_24 and check out the other stuff this lady had made and sold, it seems most of her projects simple and you can DIY!

Pin of the Week Jan 20 - Jan 27

This one is actually from one of my favorite sites, and is listed in my "Sites to Check Out" page.  Originally this was done in a nursery, but I have a "nature" themed bathroom and thought about doing this in there, but my house has such a diverse variety of art everywhere, I feel it could be fitting anywhere, especially if you have a fun, eclectic style.
This project can be found at http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/janes-coral-mustard-charmer-my-room-168043?img_idx=1  and like I said this one of my FAVORITE blogs! With tons of projects so check it out and enjoy yourself while visiting! : )

Pin of the Week Jan 13- Jan 20

Okay, I know this isn't fit for everyone's style, but this has been something I've been considering doing to a set of my lower cabinets in my kitchen. (you'd have to see these cabinets, they're horrible looking!) Anyways, I really can't afford and do NOT want to pay all that money renovating a kitchen in a place I know we will not stay forever (I got BIG dreams), we live in Indiana and eventually we plan on leaving the state my fiancee isn't from here, and I'm a business major who loves arts/crafts, not the best place for the obvious future I'm trying to paint.  But my goal on this blog is to give great alternatives that are not costly.  This is definitely one of those type of projects! When I finally decide to do mine, you best believe I'll be posting pictures!
This is an awesome blog to check out too, you can find this project at: http://www.realcoake.com/2013/01/kitchen-cabinet-ideas-curtains-for.html

Pin of the Week Jan 6 - Jan 13

This is SO cute and SO needed in my house!  The only problem is I'd probably need a whole wall for all the miss matched and lost socks in our house!  Between the boys and my 3 year old (who steals and hides my socks, I used to have socks all the time!) we have so many missing socks! lol  But is still a cool and great idea!

Just FYI

I've been swamped with tons of crap until Easter, BUT... I do plan on trying to get my blog on sometime Sunday! And hopefully we'll be caught up on Pin of the Week, it's just so far behind that's why I making it priority number one.  BUT I do have so many fantastic new crafts and things I've made that need to be added too. My Writing Class is finally over I think this Math will be enough of a breeze to get the blog caught up and share my newest creations. : )

Bandannas!  I'm not a person who can or just wear bandannas but they're pretty and I would like to do something with them, so.....Here's one idea:

And the Catch-Up continues...

Here in awhile I'll be back on here working on getting "Pin of the Week" up-to-date, and then I think I have pages, and picture edits (laying down claim to my work). : )  Also I'm in a "crafting frenzy" I'm making 5 Disney Princess Dresses, all my design, no pattern for my daughters 3rd Birthday, which is March 21st.  I think we'll probably celebrate the weekend before, due to all the local Easter Egg hunts in town the following weekend, and then the weekend after that is Easter this year, SO....It might be good to spread the festivities out some. Anyways there's no pattern to these dresses because there just isn't one I like, and I haven't sewn in over 10 years at least..... so thank god my 'visuals' and drawing is better, because I'm making these dresses happen, and I cannot wait to share them with you all! : )

Crazy Weekend

The 'catching-up' on getting this blog up-to-date will resume sometime tomorrow or Tuesday.  It's been a crazy weekend with some GREAT up and GREAT downs, but I still have one more homework assignment to complete.  But some good news I got another craft finished that I know EVERYONE will adore! (I promise) Just a few finish touches... and I will say it's a less costly alternative than buying one of these for a little girl, and that's all I'm saying. My daughter's birthday is coming up and she'll be turning 3!  So I'm doing a lot of home-made things too because, well... you'll see why.... VERY EXCITED and I hope you all are too.

Pin of the Week Dec 9-16

These were found on etsy.com so unfortunately there's not tutorial to make them, BUT I do plan on making some for my daughter's "Under the Sea" themed bedroom.  So here soon when I get around to making them myself, I can give you a tutorial on how I did it!

Pin of the Week Dec 2-9

This is a cute idea, on the site it's actually in Dutch so if you have Chrome it can translate it for you if you have a translator set up.  But I'm going to go ahead and paste the whole tutorial here for you.
Now my fiancee, I swear has at least 1 hole in EVERY pair of jeans!  So as a joke I want to do this on all his jeans...(lol)
You can always check the site out yourself at: http://bymiek.blogspot.com/2010/10/dhz-monster-knie.html

Here's the tutorial in English:

DIY: Monster Knee

If you do a crack in pants must fix, make it something beautiful! As a sample:
You will need:
• Bit dust
Vlieseline •
White • Felt
• Black embroidery thread & needle
• If necessary sewing machine

Step 1:
Iron the fusible interfacing on the back of your piece of fabric and cut the fabric then in an oval. Make sure the fabric about 3 cm wider and higher than the crack.
Cut a piece of felt in the shape of teeth, take a seam value 'of 1 cm at the top. The width must be equal to the tear.

Step 2:
Sew the teeth at the top of your piece of fabric, right along the edge (also by hand, I did it with the sewing machine).

Step 3:
Place the fabric with teeth behind the crack, so that the dust everywhere over an inch wider than the crack.
Sew with the embroidery thread around with a basting stitch (----), about 1/2 inch of the crack.
If you're around, then sew again around the openings between the stabbing also to fill (-----).

Step 4:
Cut two circles for the eyes from the white felt. Sew with the embroidery thread, such as this:

Ready!
