Last week of this Writing Course...

So it's crunch time, I apologize, I have not been ignoring you, it's the last week of this class and I need to keep my straight "A" record going, and that can all be lost by like 6pts, SO..... Let's get through this, then get all Pin of the Weeks up to date, and we'll go on from there, hopefully we'll finish "the bathroom project", and we'll see what I have for Valentine's Day, but most likely it won't be until after he receives the gift, because his nosy butt will be on here looking.  I do a homemade gift every year and I think I'll share one from the past later this week.  Then sometime we'll be moving on to easy gifts, and the next few months an interior design/decor thing going on Room-to-Room a we update things, and I think that'll be fun.  Along with I may start video tutorials and tours of the house as we update it.  Too many ideas and never enough time! But I'll be back soon enough!

Pick up tomato cages before summer is over... Tomato Cage Wrapped In Lights Outside On The Porch, or in your whatever works for you.

Pin of the Week Aug 26-Sept 2

Alright, this is an easy storage idea, especially when you have kids and you have tons of extra cans of chef borardi, spaghetti-o's, soups, and so on.  I tried to find the site it came from but it must have been taken down.  But there's no need to know how, you can see for yourself. I love storage stuff!

Pin of the Week Aug 19-26

Okay this rug is actually a rug from a store I haven't heard of and retails for $700, so it states in her blog.  This is her pinterest challenge to make a rug similar and cheaper. I don't know about you but I'm game too! :-) And if I were to make a rug with any yarn I would use Lily Sugar 'n Cream, it's a very strong, durable yarn, my mother and I had made lots of bath clothes out of them too.  So I've had my experience with that brand and it easily washable without any worries of falling apart or super shrinking.  Just throwing that out there but check out the rest of the challenge's page here: http://www.likeacupoftea.com/son-of-a-pinterest-challenge/

Pin of the Week for Aug 12-19

Here you see a stone mat, but when you visit the blog it shows you many other uses and alternatives for stone mats, and it includes a tutorial so you can DIY! LOVE IT!!!! So get to checking out this site!:

Pin of the Week for Aug. 5-12

This one is from another fellow blogger on here, I loved this idea because my daughter has SO MANY BOOKS!!!  This way some would be placed up high enough that she wouldn't be able to reach them.  But then I thought, no she'll climb it break the vinyl, and be sliced if we used metal, and on top of it her room is so small I had to take a different route that is some what similar, but I didn't use the vinyl gutters, or gutters period.  That'll be coming later this month.  But check out her blog, it's pretty neat too: http://sunshineontheinside.blogspot.com/2012/02/charms-new-shelves.html

No-Sew Burlap Curtain

Yes, I said NO-SEW! :-)

How to DIY:
I don't know how, but this idea just popped into my head one night.  It's a "NO-SEW BURLAP (STORAGE COVER) CURTAIN".  Now what I did here is I took a dowel rod, painted the same color as the mirror, screwed in ceiling hooks (these can be found in same isle as nails in hardware at like Walmart for example).  When cutting the burlap give yourself some slack so if your cut isn't even, especially cutting long lengths, you can fringe it, and the cut to shape it up as it's hanging, like giving it a hair cut! But before you even hang it, I fold the burlap about 7-8 inches over, then pushed thin hemp rope through the tiny squares of the burlap, then the hole of the buttons, and ties them into bows.  It give's a natural and country look too.  Then you push the dowel rod through hang it, straighten it, give it a hair cut if you must and you're done.  Yes, it is that simple! And you could do this on really any window in the house, especially if you're going for something simple, natural, or kind of a "country" look.

MY Bathroom (part 1)

Okay I've been trying beautify my bathroom, slowly and cheaply for a few months now.  So I'm going to share a bit of stuff that's already been added, what I've worked on here recently with DIY tutorials, and some info on what's yet to come.

Above, is what it looked like earlier this week, before I really started getting crafty, Although I've already had added to it before doing a post about it so we will get to those next.

With these I saw these two pictures in their cheaper than cheap frames from the dollar tree and inserted them   into these from with scrap-booking card stock since they didn't fit exactly perfect.  I was sick of the old art that was in there and couldn't afford bed, bath, and beyond again, so I just pulled it apart simply replaced the prints.
It's high up on this shelf because my 2 year old loves getting a hold of my brushes and ruining them.  But I think I saw this idea somewhere on Pinterest, but they had but pebbles in a glass kind of vase.  I didn't have a vase, I had this little basket that wasn't being used for anything else, and again, amazingly the Dollar Tree sells these little decorative rocks, 2 bags, $2.

I had gotten the two gardening decorative plaques quite a years back at JoAnne's near the end of the summer on clearance  (and by the way, they can have fabulous clearance deals) for my "English Garden" themed Bedroom.

Always wanted one of these as my "night light" for my bathroom, it was a GREAT find!  Got it this past November on clearance for $5.

Love this curtain, as you can see there's a lot of butterflies in my "nature" themed bathroom.  Bought this at K-mart on Sale for I think maybe $17, not too bad.

Oh my goodness I swear, we cannot get enough storage between the 4 of us!!! I got this at my local Walmart for $30, very happy with it too!

With the mirror, I obviously painted it, but I played around with mixing colors until I got the right kind of "bark-like" color.  Once I got it all painted and dry. I took sand paper to it light on the smooth areas, but a little more rough on areas of engravings and edges to enhance them, and make a little more visible with an antique look.

I saved the best for last, because I don't know how, but this idea just popped into my head one night. It's 6am!!!

SO MANY NEW THINGS TO SHARE!!!!

Okay ladies, I don't know about the rest of you and your men, but mine loves it when I do something hand-made, because quite frankly I'm good at it and he usually thinks its store bought at first, and when I tell him I made it it makes him feel 10 times more special, and just a reminder that Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I found this pin for this site, it's: 101 Handmade Gifts for Men. So go check it out, see if they have any suitable, creative ideas for your man this coming Valentine's day! <3
